Meet your team
Who We Are
Marathon Group Financial believes in people first. We stay with our clients for the long run!
When it comes to your retirement, you need a team who is with you all the way. At Marathon Group Financial, our family is here for your family for the long run.
Whether you need assistance with retirement planning, have questions about your insurance policies, or are looking for additional retirement strategies, we are here to help.
With over 30 years of experience in the industry, we work hard for each and every one of our clients. Some advisors won’t take clients unless they have a certain dollar amount in assets. We just don’t work like that. No matter what your retirement savings is now, we treat everyone with the highest respect and attention.
Want a team who is with you for the long run? Someone who really cares about you and your goals? We’re here for you. We encourage you to reach out and come meet the team members of Marathon Group Financial.
Welcome to the
Marathon Group Financial extended family!
A Message From Lisa
As a very young girl, my family lived in Redondo Beach. At age 8, when we moved to Huntington Beach, I already had the seeds of a strong work ethic from my father and an entrepreneurial spirit from my mother. My Dad was from a logging family in Northern California and worked his tail off to put himself through college. My Mom was a small business owner in an era where that was unheard of. I went on to have my own family (3 boys who are now grown men) and tried to instill in them the value of working hard to serve others.
Fast forward over 30 years and that drive to serve people is still something I feel in my bones. With all that’s going on in the world today, I feel a sense of urgency to help as many people as I can. To me, financial planning is about so much more than money. It’s about connecting people with plans that help them live out the future of their dreams. When you have a plan, you create the freedom to dream.
At Marathon Group Financial when we say we’re “with you for the long run,” that’s not just a tagline – it’s our guiding principle. Time and time again, I hear heartbreaking stories from people whose financial advisors all but abandoned them in their time of need. We believe you deserve someone who will empower you through guidance and education – and go the distance with you.
Thank you for being here and investing in yourself. We’re passionate about our work, excited to meet you, and can’t wait to work together to protect your financial future.
With you for the long run,

Meet Our Team
Miguel is the Office Manager for the company. He considers himself in charge of “Keeping the train on the tracks” and moving things forward.. He aspires to help other people succeed, and he does this by helping the team and, by extension, our clients. Miguel is caring, respectful, and always willing to go the extra mile to help others.
Miguel is experienced in bookkeeping and has owned multiple businesses prior to working with Marathon Group Financial. Management is, obviously, something he has an affinity for. He graduated with a degree in Bookkeeping and Computers from Cabot College in 1994.
When not assisting clients, he works out, or simply relaxes and watches movies. Miguel is married with 4 children, and has 2 dogs.
Victor Leonino, as Business Manager, is responsible for managing new business accounts and overseeing the servicing of existing accounts. He helps clients set up their new accounts as well as move through the process, and enjoys doing it. Helping people with this challenge is what he lives for. He’s hardworking, loyal, and respectful.
Victor has a background in account management: he worked for a Managing General Agency for about 300 public schools for around 13 years. The main focus of this work was helping school employees set up supplemental retirement accounts. He’s worked with Lisa Brumfield in the past, and was looking for more challenging (and more fulfilling) work. Hence, this job.
Victor lives in Orange Country with his long-term girlfriend, Christina, and their dog, Maggie.
Alexa Sohail is in client service. She handles answering the phone, scanning documents, creating policy binders, sending annual review and bonus letters, getting client folders ready, and processing paperwork.
Alexa, prior to working with us, worked at a law firm and an Ophthalmology Practice.
When not assisting clients, she enjoys going for runs or spending time with her family: She’s married with two children.
Marketing, Graphic and Web Designer
Melissa was born in Austin, Texas, and attended the University of Texas at Austin. As someone who loves to travel and explore new cities, she moved up and down the East Coast and eventually settled in Rhode Island, since it was on the ocean. She began working with Gibbs Financial Group over 9 years ago and continues to work closely with the GFG marketing team expanding the brand. She now owns her own design and marketing company. You can view her portfolio and request to work with her at RedDesignCreates.com.
In her free time, Melissa enjoys gardening, hiking, the beach, of course creating art! She also teaches art to “at-risk” youth in Rhode Island.
OUR REAL CEO
We refer to this little pudgy furball as our real CEO. That’s because he’s a boss, for sure. When he’s not waiting patiently by our neighbor’s fence for his daily treat, Patcher loves to be with people. He loves the attention our clients give him, and he pretty much never leaves our side. (Unless, of course, there is food nearby.) Patcher’s accomplishments include: chasing a rabbit until it punched him in the face, surviving a brawl with a Chihuahua, and eating more than you’ve ever seen a dog eat. Let’s just say he likes people more than animals. Looking for something to brighten your day? Come say “hi” to Patcher.
